Every Once in a While We Just Go Nuts!!

We've been listening, y'all, and we're fixing up some all time favorites for you this week, as well as a few new things we think you'll like.  Hopefully this won't be too complicated and you can stock up on things you love that will be easy and tasty for the whole family.  Plus, we'll be off the following week, so you need to think ahead!!

Tuesday, February 15th:

#1 Tamale Pie in the Sky
We did this as a Get You Through the Week meal a few weeks ago, and we are still hearing about it!  I admit, I was a big fan as well, so I'm glad y'all liked it.  It's a little hard to describe, but imagine just a fluffy, delicious cornbread stuffed with organic beef, cheese, seasonings, corn, black beans and veggies, and you're starting to get the picture.  It's comfort food, Tex-Mex style.  You can order this frozen or not frozen, and you'll want to top it with your favorite salsa, jalapenos, sour cream, chips, etc.  This is definitely a family fave & great for a gathering, so you may want to stock up!
$20 w/organic beef, $15 meatless

#2 Soup Lover - Baked Potato Soup & Chicken Tortilla Soup
A good soup is really much more than a bowl of liquid.  It's like a fun little party for your mouth where every bite has lots of interesting flavors and textures mixed in.  The smell wafting up, the warmth of the bowl - it's a perfect winter-nite easy supper.  The Baked Potato Soup is rich with organic potatoes, cheese & bacon - I'm going to predict that your kids will love as much as you do (I have started adding bacon to anything that I think my kids may not like, since they kids seem to be like moths to the flame for bacon!).  The Chicken Tortilla Soup is one of my favorites - hearty and full of fresh vegetables and healthy chicken, so good with cheddar cheese, avocado, chips and jalapenos added in.  A million years ago, Matt and I spent a summer living in Mexico, and I found this random street vendor that sold this amazing tortilla soup.  I'm sure I don't know what was in it that made it so good, but I've been hooked ever since.  This is the closest I can get, and I'll tell you that it's not as good, but it's pretty close & likely a little safer ...
$20 for a quart of each of the two soups & bread (vegetarian w/o bacon or chicken, extra veg)

#3 Salad Sampler - Israeli CouCous w/ Chicken & Fran's Fantastic Chicken & Rice Salad
I do love a good salad.  Not a boring, lettuce and scraped carrots with oil and vinegar dressing though - that's no fun!  I almost always have a fresh pasta or rice salad in my fridge to throw on top of lettuce for a quick, delicious lunch or a light dinner.  The more good stuff I mix in - veggies, chicken, cheese, nuts, olives, avocados - the better!  The Israeli Couscous is a big DOTP favorite - we keep getting requests to bring it back as a meal, and we will soon, but this might tide you over for a while!  It's loaded with chicken, veggies and feta cheese - healthy and yummy for any meal of the day!  Fran's Fantastic is a recipe submitted by one of our most loyal customers, and it is awesome!  Great hot or cold, for lunch or dinner or a midnight snack - you will love, love it!  And, congratulations to Fran - she will be able to donate $100 to the charity of her choice for her submission!
$20 for a quart of each salad and a bag of fresh organic spinach  (This is a great meal for new moms!!)

#4 Sweet & Spicy - Ginger Cranberry Granola & Gingerbread Muffins
GINGER ROGERS (22 K)I don't know what's gotten into us this week, but we're feeling pretty saucy and I think it may have something to do with this Ginger Granola.  We're not making any promises, but you may start feeling a little Ginger-Rogers-sassy as well!  Sprinkle a little over vanilla yogurt or ice cream, enjoy a bowl for breakfast or just munch on it as a snack - it's healthy and a little too tasty, if you ask me!  The Gingerbread Muffins will be a big hit with your family any time of day - I like them for an easy breakfast for the kids, but they are great as a delicious after dinner treat that won't keep everyone bouncing off the walls for hours.  Top with a little whipped cream for an extra fun surprise for your family!
$10 for Granola & Muffins
