Cha Cha Cha ...

It's hard to believe that January is coming to a close next week.  I'm not sure I've even finalized my 2012 Resolutions yet, and here we are already 1/12 of the way through the year.  I did realize today that I haven't been to Target yet in 2012, so I thought I might see if I can make it through the rest of the year without going there - pretty sure this will be a big fail, but if I can do it I'll probably save thousands of dollars.  It's so strange how a bunch of $5 crap we definitely do not need inexpensive merchandise always ends up adding up to $300!  Anyway, keeping myself out of Target will leave me more time to experiment with recipes and menus, so it'll be good.

We've got lots of good stuff for you in store this week, a DOTP favorite menu, a great GYTTW, and an awesome Superbowl Party Package including Mole Enchiladas, Steak Empanadas, Corndog Casserole & a Bacon-Jalapeno Cheese Ball.  That's right, I said Bacon-Jalapeno Cheese Ball.

Our Cha Cha Cha Pork Tostadas have been a DOTP favorite since they made their first appearance over a year ago.  The slow-cooked pork roasted in our smoky chipotle marinade is so good it's hard to get it to the table without stealing a few bites.  Your family will have fun piling up tostadas with beans, meat, cheese, salsa & shredded lettuce, or you can switch it up and start with shredded lettuce for a healthy & delicious salad dinner!  You may want to throw some rice on too, or just enjoy it as a side.  Any dinner leftovers can be turned into burritos for an easy & tasty lunch the next day - bonus!

We're also sending along some chips and DOTP favorite, Ninfa's Green Sauce - it's a spicy, creamy salsa made with tomatillos & avocados, and it's hard to stop eating once you get started.  We know some of you have a slight addiction to it, so if you need to a major fix, order extra!

This week Camino Bakery is baking up Chocolate Dipped Almond Horn Cookies!  They are a top-seller at Camino, where loyal customers munch on these chewy, horse-shoe shaped cookies covered in almonds & dipped in chocolate - so decadent!

For our Get You Through the Week meal, we've updated an old fashioned recipe for Stuffed Red & Green Peppers by adding in healthier ingredients and our fresh-tasting, homemade marinara.  It's a great way to get in your veggies & protein without a ton of carbs.  Of course, we are sending along a par-baked, frozen Baguette so you can enjoy warm, delicious bread with it, so we'll let you make the decision on that!

We're also excited this week to offer an awesome Superbowl Sunday Party Package!  Whether you're hosting a party, bringing something to someone else's party, or just hanging out with your own crew at home, you'll have all you need for a fun, easy & delicious evening.  The package will make kids & grown-ups equally happy, and you'll love being able to host a fun party without having to be in the kitchen all day!  It's enough to feed 4-6 adults and 4-6 kids, or more if you add a veggie platter and a salad.

In partnership with Camino Bakery, we are also offering a Sweet Sampler Platter for Superbowl fun, including a variety of cookies, brownies, Pecan bars and Blondies!  You'll order and pay with the rest of your meal, but pick up the platter from Camino (downtown on 4th St) on Saturday so that the treats will be super-fresh for Super Sunday!

The two casseroles and the Empanadas will arrive frozen, so even if you're not planning a football extravaganza, you can keep the food on hand for an impromptu party!

Our Superbowl Sunday Package includes the following goodies:
  • Beef Mole Enchiladas - frozen, will feed 4-6 adults
  • Corndog Casserole - frozen, will feed 4-6 kids
  • Bacon-Jalapeno Cheese Ball & Ritz Crackers
  • Steak & Cilantro Empanadas
  • Homemade Jalapeño Ranch Dressing (as a dip for the empanadas or for your own salad or veggie plate)
That's all - but I think that'll be plenty!  We're looking forward to seeing you on the porch this week & we love seeing your comments and hearing your feedback - keep it coming!
